View Walk Chastain Powers Ferry Path Widening Plan

A preliminary design concept for the widening of the Powers Ferry path has been developed.  The public is invited to view the concept and give thoughts and feedback on Saturday morning, March 23rd and Sunday afternoon, March 24th in the CPC tent on the path near the tennis center.

Walk Chastain PATH widening project goals are to increase safety, enhance the experience and minimize impacts.  The preliminary concept: increases safety by creating a barrier between pedestrians and cars along the entire section, slows cars by narrowing the road to 11 foot lanes and utilizing netting and landscape to buffer against golf balls; enhance the experience by increasing the path width from 4 foot to 12 foot plus and cleaning up utility poles; and minimizes impacts by keeping as many trees and views as possible.  "Thanks to many of you, the Chastain Park Conservancy raised the necessary funds to conduct the survey and develop this design," said JP Matzigkeit, Walk Chastain team member. "We are eager to share the plans and get your thoughts and feedback."  Preliminary plans may also be viewed online and are attached below.

Once the plans are finalized, CPC will begin a captial campaign to raise funds for the expansion.  Those interested in supporting the project may contribute by clicking the donate button.  Updates will be posted here and on the Walk Chastian Facebook page.
